USMC Marine Corps Aviation Tech and Mech?
I am currently DEPed in for the Marine Corps, shipping out on April 6th. And no this is not another one of those questions about air wingers seeing combat. But rather my question is about the difference in duties between avi techs and avi mechs. i know techs are more electrical and mechs are more hands on mechanical. but I would like to hear what they do more specifically and why one or the other field is better. thanks for your time and help!
geeze thanks ;]
I repaired avionics (inertial nav & radar) in the Air Force for 3 years. We had our write ups to fix equipment on the aircraft just as the jet shop, hydraulics guys, sheet metal, instruments, and crew chiefs had theirs. Each person whether electronic or mechanical knew which part of the aircraft was theirs to fix. If any of us couldn't fix our equipment on the aircraft, we took it into our shops to fix there or go to supply and get a new one. Each aircraft had a crew chief (enlisted) who was responsible for making sure all write ups were signed off before the crew could take the aircraft out on another mission.
