Tazers, teenagers, the police?
I see by the news, the Chief Constables association have approved for the police to use stun guns on any age person to assist in a safe arrest.
You can picture it:
2 fit men mid 20's, equipped with enough gear to get on robo cop bringing down 13 year girl holding a hairbrush that has been mistaken for a gun. Girl dies coz she's asthmatic.
2 fit men cleared by internal enquiry.....tabloid press starts campaign to ban hairbrushes in public.
What next?
Edit; 1. I've been teaching restraint to door staff for 3 years, not one of these guys or girls would need a tazer, so why do the old bill.
If they need tazars to overpower kids then we have problems
my bf is trained in control and restraint as he has to use it on occasion on the kids he works with, he can singlehandedly, safely and without violence, restrain a child larger than him.
The police are brutal with kids in anycase (I have seen a screaming 12 year old held down by four officers for a strip search - he had been severely sexually abused and the experiene terrified him)
I have never known of a case where a police officer has been 'unsafe' when trying to arrest a minor so why tazars are necessary to help with this I don't know????
