Plain or Serrated blade?
I'm thinking of getting a swiss army knife, and I have a small but important decision-a plain or serrated blade? Ideally i would get a combo blade, but that isn't an option for what i'm looking for. My options are the Victorinox Soldier knife (the new one), and the Wenger Ranger Grip 78. The knives are virtually identical, the only differences are in the design of the can opener, the length (the Wenger is 5/8 of an inch longer, though both blades are almost 4 inches), and the Wenger has a plain blade while the Victorinox has a serrated blade. I plan to use the blade both for everyday stuff and backpacking (so preparing food, cutting random stuff, but nothing that require a particularly fine cut). I'm not a whittler, but I'm just nor sure which blade is better.

Thanks in advance for any tips!
a plain blade would be better for general use
but a serrated blade would be better at cutting objects from cardboard to 1/4" wood...
