Why was the Reichstag fire the main reasons why Hitler was able to establish dictatorship in Germany by 1934?

please help. Things that may help to answer the question are the general election results of 1933, the enabling act, the banning of political parties and trade unions and the night of the long knives

While the fire did bring about an end to competing political parties, the "Night of Broken Glass", (Kristalnacht), was the result of the assassination of a minor Nazi official in Paris by a young Jewish man in retribution for the treatment of his parents.Nazi street gangs fomented a popular uprising and police stood by while Jewish shops and synagogues were destroyed in November of 1938

I am somewhat surprised that a "top contributor" would not know this. A feeble-minded native of Holland was "discovered" sifting through the Reichstag rubble after the fire and put on trial for starting the fire, and he was discovered to have Communist leanings, hence the end of parties in Germany other than the National Socialists.

The Night of the Long Knives was an elimination of several Nazis from within the party by Hitler, including the murder of Ernst Roehm, head of the SA. Hitler perceived that Roehm was gaining too much power and needed the full backing of the military, who would not come along with Roehm still on the scene.
