I have a big combat knife I carry in my car is that illegal?

If I say I use it for hunting or skinning then is it legal to carry it in my car? Because then they don''t have proof of intent?

The law states that the driver of any vehicle is held responsible for the items in it. Legally, the police could charge you with unconcealed weapon, if they wanted to. If it's in the trunk of your car, that may not be considered concealed. If it is in trunk of your car but locked up in a safe or something, then it's not easily accessible. In which case, you would probably be fine. However, police are going to question you and ask why you have this for. I would suggest only keeping it in your trunk when you need to use it for that day. If you are not going to use it, keep it home locked up or something if there is room or in a storing facility.
