Is it okay to give my 15m jack russell a boiled chicken wing?
I adopted him about a week ago from a family that gave him table food. He is now eating dry dog food and doing well but just for a treat is it okay to boil a plain chicken wing and give him no bone of course?
Do not give cooked bones. Cooking breaks down the bones and causes them to splinter. Raw bones are fine. Better to give him raw chicken also. Cooking destroys some of the nutrients. Dogs are carnivorous animals. They have been eating raw meat and bones for millions of years. They are not four legged humans. Their digestive system is not like ours. The marrow in the bones contains lots of nutrients also. The more raw food you give your dog, the better. Not even the best commercial food is as good as raw. Give some raw food every day.
