Why did Jawahar Lal Nehru the icon of Congress made these statements?
1 On 15 Aug 1963 - To get independence We did not even shed single drop of blood
(Did he forget millions of hindus killed by muslims in Pakistan. Or did he forget the jails in port blair or sacrifices by veer sawarkar, bhagat singh sukhdev rajguru lajpatrai & so on)
1962 after china war – Not even a single blade of grass grows in 90000 kms Indian barren land lost to china ( Did he forget Neelam precious stonre mines in that area )
1962 china war – We must not loose this strategic bridge ( Protecting two wooden planks on a brook on Nehrus order ledsd to death of several indian soldiers )
On accession agreement on Kashmir with Maharaj hari singh during 1947 – unless you add subject to will of people I shall not accept Kashmir as part of India
( why muslims only why no willfor punjabi hindus during 47
Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister of India, thanks to fortuitous circumstances. There were at least two national leaders who would have done far better as the first Prime Minister of India. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose died in a mysterious air crash, which has never been truly authenticated. Sardar Patel, the Iron Man of India didn't get Gandhiji's blessings.
Nehru, thanks to his English education, felt more comfortable in a traditionally English setting. His mentality was also fashioned on English ideas. Thus, though he was India's Prime Minister and an Indian himself, his soul was hardly Indian. Nehru also craved for accolades from outside, especially from the Western countries. In order to win such accolades, he often consciously overlooked Indian interests. And he spun such useless organisations as the Non-Aligned Movement, which doesn't exist today or the self defeating principle of Panchsheel.
Statement No. 1 is an eulogy to the Gandhian principle of non-violence. Gandhiji was Nehru's principal benefactor. Nehru made this statement to emphasise that only Gandhian non-violent struggle brought Indian independence. The martyrs from Bengal, Punjab and Maharashtra who led armed struggles against the British and sacrificed their lives for India's independence, were forgotten. Conveniently forgotten was Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's armed struggle and the contribution of the Azad Hind Fauj.
In statement No. 2, India's interests and more importantly her territorial sovereignty was given a go by in the name of good relations with China. China was prepared to fight with India to recover what it considered its own territory. No self respecting leader would have conceded an inch of sovereign territory to an aggressor. This statement surely puts Nehru's patriotism to question. Such statements would never have been uttered by Netaji or Sardar Patel.
Statement No. 3 proves that Nehru was not a sound administrator. He did not understand statesmanship, governance or warfare. Else, he should have ordered a tactical retreat from the bridge and saved the precious lives of Indian soldiers engaged in an unequal battle with Chinese forces.
Statement No. 4 indicates that Nehru was a pseudo-secularist. His principle of secularism extended to providing undue benefits to Muslims while denying justified rights to Hindus, although the latter were butchered in large numbers in Pakistan at the time of partition. Much of the special status that Kashmir enjoys is an outcome of Nehru's lopsided policies regarding the Muslims of that state at the expense of the interests of the persecuted Hindus.
